As a member of National 4-H Council's global team, Dr. Akridge will build and execute National 4-H Council's global strategy through the Global Clover Network, support the network of global 4-H programs, and drive new global partnership opportunities.

| Global 4-H Network Receives $1.5 Million Grant |
Chevy Chase, MD (Jan. 12, 2012) - Today, the global 4-H network announced support from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, to help youth in sub-Saharan Africa create sustainable livelihoods and improve household and national food security. With this $1.5 million grant, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation will help National 4-H Council grow country-led 4‑H programs in Sub-Saharan Africa that will support the next generation of farmers.

| Former USDA Secretary Ann M. Veneman Joins National 4-H Council Board of Trustees |
National 4-H Council is pleased to announce the newest addition to the Board of Trustees, Ann M. Veneman. Veneman served as Secretary of the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) from 2001 to 2005, where she advanced an expanded trade agenda, food protection, progressive farm policy, rural development, responsible forest policy, and stronger nutrition programs.

| National 4-H Council Receives $6.3 Million for National Youth Mentoring Programs |
CHEVY CHASE, MD – (Oct. 13, 2011) – The Department of Justice’s Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP) has awarded two grants totaling $6.3 million to National 4-H Council. In support of its national youth mentoring programs, $5.3 million will go toward the OJJDP National Mentoring Program (NMP), and $1 million will support the 4-H Tribal Youth National Mentoring Program. The grants come as a part of the OJJDP’s national effort to strengthen, expand and implement youth mentoring activities nationwide to improve the lives of millions of young Americans.

DES MOINES, Iowa, Oct. 11, 2011 – DuPont and National 4-H Council today announced a partnership to strengthen youth development in rural African communities. DuPont’s commitment of up to $2 million over the next two years will allow the global 4-H network to help African youth create sustainable livelihoods and improve household and national food security for people across the continent.
