4-H's preventative health and safety programs provide youth with a better understanding on how their choices can help themselves and their families. Here are some of the programs:
Health Rocks!® is curricula for a healthy living program targeted at young people ages 8 to 14. Health Rocks!® also provides health information regarding norms and consequences of youth tobacco, alcohol, and drug usage.
Building Partnerships for Youth is designed to build the capacity of youth serving organizations in the fields of education, health, faith, and youth development -- a partnership between National 4-H Council and the University of Arizona.
4-H ATV Safety helps youth and adults ride ATVs safely by teaching them safe riding practices. It also provides grants to 4-H/Extension groups and their community partners to create or enhance local or state ATV safety projects. The website features information about ATVs, safe riding tips, videos about ATVs, games, and quizzes.
The 4-H National Mentoring Program provides funding to land-grant universities within the 50 states for replicating three evidence-based Extension 4-H programs serving at-risk populations, with the goals of increasing youth social competency, family relationships, and academic success.
